There’s nothing else out there like “Dog and Pony (The Anarchy)”—and that’s precisely why you should listen. Stoney Forde’s latest single isn’t polished. It doesn’t shimmer. Instead, it staggers into your ears like a half-drunk raconteur at a dive bar, spinning tales that feel both absurd and profound. If music exists to challenge, to provoke, and to offer something utterly new, then Stoney has succeeded on all fronts.
The track opens with a dry, oddly tuned guitar line that sounds like it was recorded in one take—perhaps because it was. The instruments come and go like uninvited guests at a party: a brittle piano patch, an acoustic bass that hums faintly off-kilter, and a harmonica hook that’s strange yet undeniably catchy. The drum loops feel like they’re trying to escape the mix, slightly disjointed and totally unpredictable, but somehow keeping the momentum alive. It’s messy, hypnotic, and strangely captivating.
Then there are Stoney’s vocals, which don’t so much lead the track as they do stumble alongside it. His delivery is raw and understated, almost as if he’s humoring the microphone. Yet, in that rawness lies a charm, a sense of authenticity that’s hard to fake. It’s like listening to a man trying to explain the inexplicable with nothing but a voice and a borrowed harmonica.
While the song’s production might sound “cursed” to some—a chaotic mishmash of disparate elements—it’s impossible to dismiss. Stoney achieves something rare: a kind of accidental brilliance, where imperfection becomes the point. This isn’t music that demands your approval. It’s music that dares you to meet it on its own strange terms.
Thematically, Stoney dubs his genre “Smooth” or “Enlightened Americana,” but these labels feel almost beside the point. What matters is the world he creates—a surreal space where magical realism meets the grit of Reno dive bars. This track is less about perfection and more about storytelling, even if the story feels like it’s being told through the haze of last call.
“Dog and Pony (The Anarchy)” is not for everyone, and that’s its strength. In a world full of sleek, polished singles optimized for algorithms, Stoney Forde offers a refreshing reminder that music doesn’t always have to make sense to be worth hearing. It’s unique, it’s messy, and it’s unforgettable. Love it or hate it, you won’t stop thinking about it.

Single Review – Long Legged Goddess by Stoney Forde (2024) (Self Released)
Obviously, with a single entitled Long Legged Goddess, there is always the potential for the accompanying album cover to include a beach, a beautiful lady sporting a bikini and legs that extend to the most beautiful ends of the earth, thus allowing pubescents everywhere to celebrate the fact that Stoney Forde has delivered on such a ‘promise’.
However, this release is about so much more. Taking the crushed, hazy vocals of Mo Troper and marrying them to a Bob Dylan sense of perfect off kilter, Forde rummages through the benefits of lo-fi, hazy ‘something track’ production and celebrates the Bardot-esque beauty of the screen goddesses of yesteryear by coercing faux jangled riffs to dance within a juxtaposition of 60s psyche-rock and indie folk that should never really work but ticks every originality box you could possibly imagine.
Moreish despite itself, somehow my mouse has just kept gravitating to this track for a couple of weeks now!

Stoney Forde presents: “Rum Running 3 Sheets to the Wind.”
Stoney Forde is a songwriter and recording artist whose sound incorporates various genres such as rock, jazz, and easy-listening, among others. He is more focused on creating good, engaging and fun music for his audience, rather than conforming to genre definitions and labels. He has achieved success in this endeavor with his latest single “Rum Running 3 Sheets to the Wind.”
This song in particular has a very folky flavor, which sort of reminds of the community of listening to music. The arrangement, especially in the intro part, actually is reminiscent of that feeling of people getting together around a campfire, with a guitar and a handful of tunes - which is actually what’s happening in the song’s official music video! It’s a very direct and timeless vibe, which immediately makes the song feel so warm and relatable. “Rum Running 3 Sheets to the Wind” echoes a spirit of adventurous living and self-determination. At its core, it’s a catchy and fun yacht rock song that encourages people to embrace a more open and lively mindset, staying grounded in the moment and trying to make the most from of it.
The folk song has a mellow vibe with gentle guitar and soft vocals, creating an intimate atmosphere. There’s a hint of energy, like a quiet excitement, adding depth without being overwhelming. Soon after, though, the arrangement evolves into a much more articulate track, reminiscent of iconic artists such as E.L.O. or Fleetwood Mac. Still, the artist escapes comparisons by creating a very dynamic and personal sound. This makes his lyrics and content compelling and very dynamic. The production of the track also helps, with its natural vibe that highlights the natural dynamics of the instruments and the vocals as well.
The song’s power lies in its reminder of how music can inspire and unite. From the music video, depicting music around campfire, to the actual song and lyrics, it’s a testament to the timeless storytelling strength of great songs overall. “Rum Running 3 Sheets to the Wind.” could be described as a truly timeless tune. In its earnest simplicity, we find strength and hope. Yet, Stoney Forde also shines as an example of an artist who is always eager to innovate and set the bar higher with new ideas and constantly being open to new possibilities with his songs.

Stoney Forde has recently released a new work: “A Bit Wicked (Long Legged Goddess)”
Stoney Forde is an artist with a focus on bringing passion, innovation and creativity to the table - all the while retaining a charming retro twist that brings balance and dynamics to his compositions. His sound has a vintage flair, which echoes the best garage, rockabilly and indie rock revival influences, while infusing it with a dash of personality.
His most recent single,“ A Bit Wicked (Long Legged Goddess),” is a spot-on example of how Stoney Forde is able to bring old-school charm and authentic warmth to his track. The new song, which was released less than two weeks ago by the time of this writing, should definitely be on your radar if you do enjoy the work of artists such as Royal Blood, The Blasters, The Cramps, Tom Petty, Dead Rituals, and The Killers, among others.
The track could be described as a bonafide ode to the captivating charms of an alluring woman, which is a symbol of lust but also danger and mystique. With playful verses and a catchy chorus, the song paints a vivid picture of a femme fatale, drawing comparisons to timeless legends such as Bridget Bardot. The lyrics capture the heart-skipping thrill and unpredictability of a short-term love affair with such a woman, emphasizing her power to enchant…and leave trouble in her trail with equal ease!
To conclude, this song is a reminder that great rock and roll music can (and perhaps should) be sexy and a bit mysterious, too! “A Bit Wicked (Long-Legged Goddess)” has everything that you would expect from a quintessential rock and roll record, with the added benefit of Stoney’s dynamic vocal delivery and sultry lyrics. The rhythm guitar has a bouncy rockabilly twist, with tasteful echo effects that cut through the mix. The drums drive the energy of the song, and the vocals soar through the instrument without ever overpowering the holistic balance of the track as a whole. The song also comes with a matching music video, which brings a truly unique visual complement to the song.
